WBSS Compete in the 2013 ILYA Opti Championship

6 sailors from WBSS competed in this years ILYA Optimist Championship.  They were among 130 boats that competed (86 RWB Fleet, 44 Green fleet).    Light and shifty winds cause there to be no races on the first day of the regatta.  However by the second day, winds had become steady though still light.  5 sailor competed in the championship fleet (RWB), with Alexander B our highest finisher at 19th place.   Vivian B, our only green fleeter finished 18th of 44 boats.  Full Results here.

White Bear Sailors place 1st at Geneva and 2nd at Championships

Kate Cox (age 15) and Conner Lee (age 14) traveled to Lake Geneva Sailing School in Wisconsin July 7-9th and raced X Boats ( 16′-2 person youth racing boat) against 50 other boats from all over the Midwest. 420 Nationals See WBSS sailor placing top 1/2

OVer 50 boats participated in the 2013 420 nationals held on Lake Geneva. WBSS Opti coach Will C placed 10th, Kate C placed 24th, and Opti coach Anders E and Suzie V placed 30th. Full Results Here.

WBSS FIRST IN THE GLSS X DINGHGYFEST

In impressive fashion, Kate and cousin Connor dominated a 50-boat fleet in today’s second day of sailing. Charlie Kutschenreuter with Annie Cate Schmidt sailed to second. Four mid to heavy air races provided a challenge to race committee and sailors alike. Full Results Here.

White Bear Sailors Take Top Spots In TYCS Harriet

WBSS sailors did well in the 2013 TCYS Harriert Regatta. Regatta day saw strong 14 knot winds from the start. The Green fleet got 3 races in in the morning and the championship fleet completed 2. After lunch the winds built to 19 knots. The green fleet did not race in the afternoon, but the RWBers completed 3 races. Alex B took first in the blue fleet and first overall. WBSS Sailor Places 5th at 2013 US Sailing Junior Olympics

WBSS Sailor Alexander B places 5th in the Optimist Blue Fleet at the 2013 US Sailing Junior Olympics sailing festival hosted by WCSC.  The event drew sailors from around the twin cites and chicago.  Full Results Here.

WBSS Sailor Competes in the 2013 Midwest Opti Championship

On June 29th and 30th, WBSS sailor Toby S sailed in the 2013 Midwest Opti Championship. The Regatta was hosted by Gull Lake Yacht Club in northern Minnesota, and was attended by 7 TCYS sailors, as well as 23 other sailors from as far away as Florida, Georgia, and Texas. WBSS hosts its 2013 TCYS Manitou Days Regatta

WBSS hosted its annual TCYS event, Manitou Days on Friday June 28th. More than 70 sailors raced in this years regatta, though exceptionally windy conditions caused some racers to drop out before the end of racing. Despite the challenging conditions, WBSS sailors managed to earn top spots in many fleets.
