The Club 420 is the most popular and versatile double-handed junior boat in North America, because of its ability to provide youth and adults a wide range of sailing experience from learning basic sailing skills through advanced racing technique. Unlike the Optimist, which is generally sailed by one person under 120 pounds, the Club 420 is sailed by a skipper and a crew and is best suited for sailors who are over the age of 12 and/or weigh more than 100 pounds.

Ages 12-17

Our Club 420 Fundamentals Classes (formerly Beginner/Intermediate) are aimed to teach both first time and less experienced sailors between the ages of 12-17, the basics skills needed to sail in a fun, safe, recreational learning environment.

During each session, students will be taught the basic points of sail, how to rig and de-rig the boat, how to safe leave and return to the dock, knot tying, the basic of sail trim and general seamanship. Our certified staff of instructors will implement a variety of different sailing-based activities, both onshore and on the water, which will allow students to have fun and gain confidence while maximizing learning.

At the end of each session, instructors will suggest the next step for each student based on their progress. 2 ½ Hour Class. Boats are provided.
