Back by popular demand! The X-Class has been one of the primary youth training boats in the Midwest for more than 75 years, and will be raced again on White Bear Lake in 2014. We are expecting a fleet of 7 X-boats racing this year, so this class is your opportunity to get involved and have some fun. Registration in the X boat class also includes registration to race all summer in the regular weekly races on the lake.
The X’s stage design makes it the perfect boat for young sailors looking for an easy transition from the Optimist to the Club 420 and a terrific opportunity to get involved in our regular races during the summer, as well as many regattas.
WBSS will hold a weeklong introductory class on June 9 – 12th for new sailors who are interested in sailing the X boat. WBSS will also be hosting two 3-day clinics where past and current X-Boat champions will teach students all about tactics, tuning, boat speed, tacking, jibing, and all the big fleet starting techniques. The clinics will before tow X-Boat regattas in July, giving students the opportunity to apply the skills learned during the clinics. Limited number of charter boats will be available.
Cost: $500/summer – includes weeklong class in June, 2 clinics in July, coaching at all the X-Boat traveling events and registration to race in weekly X series on White Bear Lake.
