The X-Class has been a one of the most popular youth training boat for kids in the Midwest for over 75 years. Typically sailed and raced by boys and girls between the ages of 10-16, the X’s stable design and durability makes it the perfect boat for young sailors looking for an easy transition from the Optimist to the Club 420.
Throughout the summer, current X-Boat champions will teach students all about tactics, turning, boat speed, tacking, gybing, and big fleet starting techniques. Class fee include coaching and support at practices and four ILYA regattas:
X Inland Championship
There will also be local club races held Wednesday nights and Saturdays throughout the summer on White Bear Lake. Students enrolled in the class will not have to pay the WBYC Sailing Division Fee to participate in those races.
NOTE: Students enrolled in our X program must provide their own boat and equipment. A limited number of scholarship boats and lifts at WBSS will be available prior to the start of the season. To check availability of charter boats or reserve lift space, please contact our Waterfront Director at firstname.lastname@example.org before May 1st 2016
